INTRO
DHARMAN’S house was designed to ensure that symmetry, balance, and proportion should meet as desired to make it a soothed and comfort living. Special focus was on the use of materials like stone, tiles, woods etc. well blended with ornate embellishments like intricate carvings and mouldings etc.
This interior project included a beautiful entrance, a sizable living hall, a dining and coffee area, and a kitchen (dry & wet) including a pantry, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a creche, and a powder room.
THEME
The house was thought of in a way to portray comfort and casual elegance that is not ostentatious in approach but looks like it. Hence the worldwide popular style of Classic French countryside interior was picked to suit the thought of design, as the key to French country-style furniture is comfort and style.
Also known as provincial style; its distinct characteristics of using softly textured fabrics in muted colours on upholstered seating and chairs, always incorporating soft and cosy cushions, other furnishings, such as tables and chests, are typically graceful, simple wood pieces that often incorporate some type of carvings that emphasize the furniture’s appearance.
The French-style interior gives a more formal touch with added embellishments which turned out to be a perfect match to the planned vision for we had for this home.
SOME DESIGN ELEMENTS & MATERIALS USED:
Italian marble flooring was chosen for living, dinning, coffee area and other semi private areas because of its availability in a wide range of desired patterns and appealing appearance. Considering its high durability being a natural stone it provides better insulation against weathering impacts & provides a thermalizing effect and other such effects when provided over RCC slab. Its flexibility to re polish as its natural stone surface over the long run naturally makes it a more sustainable material to be used.
To create the classical look, we added mouldings in the house wherever necessary which were router cut MDF boards finished in duco paint for installation on the walls & recycled furniture. A wide range of digitally printed tiles were used for designing the bathroom especially Moroccan themed floor tiles.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
It is essential for every designer to consider a few key points in order to create a classic and timeless design that will survive for years; hence, when creating the inside of this house, we considered the following factors:
Our design aim has consistently been “form follows function,” which is also a fundamental architectural precept. To create a functionally optimised design, we ensured that each area served a purpose by ensuring appropriate placements of visually appealing furnishings that facilitated the user’s activities and navigation in each space. While doing so, we also ensured that our design represents the house owner’s taste and way of life by cohering décor with colour schemes, and appropriate materials, and achieving a home interior that maintains its elegance in both natural and artificial lighting, producing a visual plan for each room in the house. And, in doing so, we aimed to attain the comfort required to call a space” a home” by making it intriguing by textures like the sofa upholstered in suede fabric and temperature management. With the ever-increasing need for sustainable design, our design was created with the environment in mind, combining the use of conventional furniture designs, reused furniture and energy-efficient materials with design sensibility. A final addition of natural components, such as plants, assisted us in creating a design that mirrored the homeowner’s lifestyle and demands, resulting in a place that is both useful and elegant in appearance.
ENTRANCE
The design of the main entrance was planned to impart a pleasing & elegant effect. A French door with cool shade was provided; reflecting the theme chosen for the interior ambience of the entire house.
LIVING ROOM
As it serves as a formal gathering place for everyone, the living room acts as the face of any home and should be planned to look welcoming. Therefore, for our team, designing the living room was the most rewarding and enjoyable experience. We included the fundamental yet important design philosophies. The location of the furniture and décor was carefully considered in order to create a layout that would allow for easy movement. The use of neutral colours like white, grey, beige, and light blues helped to elegantly combine form and function. Lights were installed in harmonious patterns to bring about an ambient yet cosy house. A right blend of intricate patterns, wooden furniture & golden wall accentuations with linear mouldings made the living room elaborate & picturesque. Ample storage space was required because the living area is used the most frequently every day. We addressed this by offering the ideal furniture items, such as a coffee table withstorage or an entertainment unit with shelving, that not only enhanced the aesthetics but also offered adequate storage. To provide more storage alternatives, we also added open shelves or storage consoles. The Living became a signature characteristic for the Client by taking into account all the factors and adhering to the theme and design principles.
BEDROOMS
Bedrooms are areas that promote calmness and relaxation. Therefore, it was essential to develop a layout that is simple to use and comfortable for daily mobility.
Neutral colours were chosen, along with other calming tones like grey, mild blues& deeper greens, etc., keeping in mind Classicism as the main theme. These colours, along with the natural & ambient lighting that was provided in the room. This ensured that the calmness & serene atmosphere was reflected throughout all of the bedrooms designed. The most crucial aspect of bedroom design is comfy bedding.
Therefore, we offered luxurious bed backs and soft, comfortable beds in muted patterns and shades. The muchneeded splash of colour was added by decorative items like carpets, cushions, and rugs.In addition to comfort, we needed to offer personal storage, so we included roomy walkin closets, large bedside tables, and various cupboards and closets for everyday necessities.Artwork, rugs, and curtains are examples of decor items that gave the bedrooms their charm and character.Items that reflect the client’s individual style and create visual appeal have been tudied for inclusion. We also considered how the bedroom will be used and added features that met the client’s requirements.
A desk or reading nook, for instance, that offered a place to unwind or work. The bedroom thus was designed to represent the personal style for the client and offer a relaxing and functional environment for sleeping.
KITCHEN
The kitchen has the most complex layout since wehave to take into account both practical and aesthetic factors. The layout of the kitchen was one of the most crucial factors in designing a practicaland effectivework space; as a result, we had to take into account the room’s size and shape as well as the placement of important features like the sink, stove and refrigerator, which constitutes the work triangle in kitchen design.Shelving needs to be taken into consideration primarily when designing a kitchen. Therefore, we made sure there was enough room to store cookware, tools and food. To maximise storage, we also included a pantry as well asextra shelving, or cabinets.By adding precise task light arrangements, we ensured that the kitchen was well lit, creating a space that could handle many moods. We took care to consider minor details while working towards making these things reality by including undercabinet illumination for productivity at work .It was essential to choose the appropriate appliances and locations for them based on how the clients will use them.As a result, we needed to research how the space and its intended users function. The materials that greatly influenced the way the kitchen looked and felt were another aspect that needed to be taken into consideration. The work counter is made to be simple to use and sturdy as time passes by combining materials like granite or quartz for the countertops.
DINING
Given that it functions as a location for socialising and meeting, the dining area is frequently referred to as the home’s nucleus. Therefore, we created this place to be elaborate and dynamic with plenty of space for improved functionality. We did this by carefully examining the dimensions and shapes of each item of furniture and décor, especially the white dining table and its white chairs. The eating space had both ambient lighting and ample natural light, which gave it the necessary life. A functional crockery unit with a serving top was developed as a separate area for cutlery and dinnerware. It was enjoyable and innovative experience to create a dining room for this house.
